Dr. Joseph Wysocki, Dean of Belmont Abbey’s Honor Program spoke at The Summit’s 2018 Fall Forum. Reflecting on a wide array of thinkers, from Plato, to Toqueville, to Pieper to St. Augustine, Dr. Wysocki noted that “an education that raises a  student’s eyes to the questions about the nature of human goods, goods like love, friendship, virtue, and ultimately the good, happiness should lead to an uneasiness in being content with mere material comforts. This uneasiness, one hopes, will lead students to seek the source of all love, true friendship, virtue, and happiness.  In this sense, the education you are about to undertake here, while providing no guarantee of your salvation, may I hope play a part in search for it.”
