Dear Families,

As we move through our fourth year of operation, the culture of our school is becoming more apparent. Our students stand out in a good way, as young people who are curious, hopeful and kind.

The Summit culture is informed by a commitment to the following:

1. Academic Excellence in the Liberal Arts to equip students will learn to write well, speak well and think well.

2. Strong Character and Fortitude. We invite students to embrace a challenge and develop confidence by cultivating a growth mindset.

3. Servant Leadership and Friendship. Our task is to form young people of strong character who will live a life of virtue and friendship exhibited in acts of service to others.

Even as the nature of the conversation changes, the dialogue with parents and healthy adult role models continues to play in important role in the development of young people while they move towards healthy independence. Maturity comes in not only learning to take responsibility for oneself, but also in learning to become attentive to the needs of others. Relationships are a key factor in forming young people during the high school years as they begin to move towards adulthood.

A key question for teenagers comes to the following: What sort of person do you want to become?

The Summit Academy is committed to the belief that a Christian school should be a valuable ally for parents. Our shared task is to help form young men and women in both the human and theological virtues so that students become mature, responsible young adults who are equipped to engage the world.

We invite you to discuss these matters with your son or daughter and consider the shared priorities that you want to focus on as a family in helping them to realize their calling and discover a future that they may not have even yet imagined for themselves.
