Introducing our Three Roses Capital Campaign

Consistent with a key pillar of its new Strategic Plan, The Summit Academy Board of Directors is pleased to announce the launch of its Three Roses Capital Campaign, which will support the first phase of construction for a permanent campus. Having acquired the necessary acreage in 2022 and secured a special-use permit in 2024, the school is well positioned to continue advancing its mission and executing its vision for Catholic classical education in Virginia at the southernmost point of the Diocese of Arlington.

At The Summit’s Fifth Annual Gala on November 8, 2025, the school announced its capital campaign and, on November 12, the Board of Directors approved the final stage of construction drawings for the main building as depicted.

Behind the Design

The building renderings and master plan shown below are the work of Nicolas Charbonneau and his sacred architecture team. Nicolas Leo Charbonneau is a principal of Harrison Design’s Washington D.C. office, where he directs the Sacred Architecture Studio responsible for St. Benedict’s Classical Academy of Natick, MA, and the renovation of Thomas Aquinas College’s Northfield, MA chapel. Since graduating from Notre Dame School of Architecture in 2009, Nicolas has been dedicated to the 21st century renaissance of classical and traditional architecture. He brings exceptional mission alignment and vision to this Virginia countryside project.

Phase I: Building a Permanent Home

The first phase of our campaign will see the construction of the main building and finalize site preparation for the entire campus. The main building is designed as a fitting and beautiful centerpiece of the campus. Its fully functional facilities will enable us to:

      • Support anticipated growth through 2030
      • Dedicate a reliable space for Holy Mass, prayer, and community events
      • Bring athletics programs onsite
      • Expand arts and science facilities
      • Maintain competitive tuition rates and build an endowment

Phase I: Timeline

Main Building Plans

Phase I Usage

The main building is designed as a fully functional facility for The Summit’s next period of growth. The Flex space past the grand Entry Hall will be a reliable space for Holy Mass and prayer, community events, and student meals.

Use in Future Phases

The main building will eventually serve as the campus’s primary Upper School building only. The Flex space will become the Library and the right Office will become an additional Science classroom.

Future Phases

Our approach prioritizes stewardship and permanence. Future phases will support multi-year growth to a 350-student capacity and provide additional facilities, including a gymnasium and chapel.

The Three Roses

Our capital campaign is named after the three roses in our school crest which symbolize Excellence, Humility, and Joy. Through this campaign, with an emphasis on responsible stewardship, we will cultivate these fruits in service of our community, nation, and Church.
