Camp Frassati
Note: The first session for Camp Frassati for grades 6-9 is at capacity. The second session for grades 3-5 still has availability.
Launched in 2024 as an extension of The Summit’s Outdoor Program, Camp Frassati is an outdoor adventure summer camp designed for rising 3rd–9th grade students seeking a summer filled with adventure, friendship, and joy.
This year is especially meaningful for us since our patron, Pier Giorgio Frassati, was canonized by Pope Leo XIV on September 7, 2025! At Camp Frassati, students will follow in the footsteps of this remarkable saint through:
Outdoor Exploration
From hiking scenic trails and paddling open water to climbing rock walls, campers will immerse themselves in the beauty of creation while building confidence, resilience, and lasting friendships.
Spiritual Formation
Campers will encounter the inspiring story of Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati and grow in their own faith through engaging talks on his life and witness, Scripture reflections, and small-group discussions.
For more information regarding dates and cost, see the flyer attached. Spaces are limited, so sign up today! To register, scan the QR code on the flyer or click here:
Meet Ms. Riley, camp leader for Camp Frassati
Genevieve Riley has a deep and abiding love for the outdoors. She teaches math at The Summit Academy, where she also serves as Director of the Outdoor Program. She is a certified Wilderness First Responder and has extensive experience leading outdoor trips.
Her passion for outdoor ministry grew after spending three months in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado serving at a Catholic outdoor summer camp. There, she saw how powerfully creation reflects the Creator. Inspired by St. Pier Giorgio Frassati, she is eager to invite students into the outdoors to cultivate wonder and awe, build community through shared adventure, and explore some of Virginia’s most beautiful places.

Plein Air Art Camp
Note: The first session for the Plein Air Art Camp is at capacity. A second session is now being offered from June 29-July 3.
This summer, give your student the opportunity to step outside the classroom and into the landscape. The Plein Air Art Camp for rising 6th–12th grade students is a five-day immersive experience where students create artwork on location at some of the area’s most beautiful historic and natural settings.
From 9:00–2:30 each day, campers will learn how to observe light, compose a landscape, understand color relationships, and confidently paint & draw outdoors. Instruction emphasizes careful observation, strong drawing foundations, and thoughtful craftsmanship — all in a structured, encouraging environment. Transportation to and from locations is provided from our drop-off/pick-up point at Zoan Baptist Church.
Camp Highlights:
-
Small group setting (maximum 12 students)
-
Daily visits to inspiring outdoor locations
-
Instruction in composition, perspective, and color
-
Guided critique and skill development
-
Focused, screen-free creative time outdoors
Students bring their own materials, allowing them to continue using their tools after camp ends. The registration page provides a materials list designed to meet the needs of a variety of campers.
This camp is ideal for students who enjoy art, nature, a bit of history, and working with their hands. Whether your child is building foundational skills or refining existing ones, they will leave the week with finished artwork, stronger technique, and a deeper appreciation for the landscape around them.
Space is limited to keep instruction personal and focused. For more information please view the attached flyer or click here:
Meet Mr. Beck, art instructor for Plein Air Art Camp
Caleb Beck is an oil painter originally hailing from the Blue Ridge Mountains. At The Summit Academy he teaches art, history, and literature. Prior to this he taught studio courses at several colleges around Chicago and at one art center. While he works primarily with figures, landscape has become a growing portion of his art practice. He devised this summer camp to help students grow their creative abilities and appreciate the picturesque sights around Fredericksburg.
