Community Service

Service to the local community is an essential part of student life at The Summit. Our students learn that service is a natural expression of our responsibilities as members of families, communities, and society at large. Growing in maturity is learning to look beyond our own immediate needs and to recognize and respond to the needs of our neighbors.

The Summit designates three full days each academic year for community service projects. Organized into the school’s four houses, upper school students serve at local nursing homes, food banks, churches, and nonprofit organizations such as Mary’s Shelter. These days give students the opportunity to work together for the good of the broader community while deliberately cultivating habits of charity, attentiveness, and generosity.
