- Years at The Summit: 9 Years
“And the city hath no need of the sun, nor of the moon, to shine in it. For the glory of God hath enlightened it, and the Lamb is the lamp thereof. And the nations shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth shall bring their glory and honour into it. And the gates thereof shall not be shut by day: for there shall be no night there. And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.” — Revelation 21:23-26
James studied English Literature at the University of Wisconsin, and Theology at the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Marriage and Family Studies, where he completed his M.T.S., and all but the dissertation for his Ph.D. Joining the Summit in its second year, he owes his interest in classical education to a providential series of books and mentors, beginning with a middle-school encounter with the Bible and culminating in his doctoral research on the thought of Christopher Dawson under David L. Schindler. Midwesterners, hailing from Wisconsin and St. Louis, respectively, he and his wife, Jane, married shortly after college and have five children.
