Speech & Drama

The Summit Academy’s Speech & Drama Program, directed by Mr. Patrick Clark, provides students with unique opportunities to cultivate stage presence, confidence, and creativity within the classical liberal-arts tradition. The program is an integral part of the school’s curriculum, fostering a deeper understanding of the arts.

Each year, students participate in two productions. Occurring every March, the flagship Spring Play occurs is a full-scale theatrical production that relies on student talent, creativity, and dedication in all aspects, from stage acting and voice projection to technical set design, lighting, and more. Previous Spring Plays have included J.M. Barrie’s original Peter Pan and Shakespeare’s The Tempest. During the winter, the festive Christmas dinner show offers an intimate setting for students to perform engaging skits and monologues while guests enjoy fellowship and a meal. Preparation for the Christmas dinner show is offered through Mr. Clark’s fall elective course.
